Choosing Your Bird Aviary

One of the most difficult matters that new bird owners come across in the early stages of ownership is choosing the right bird aviary for their birds. There are so many bird aviaries out there in the marketplace so you have to make sure you choose the correct aviary wisely.

If you only have one small bird, then the type of bird aviary you should be looking to buy are ones that can easily be carried by anyone. Don't go out and buy a massive aviary if you only plan to own one or two small lovebirds. This wouldn't make sense and would just make more work? Instead look to purchase a smaller more compact bird aviary that can easily be moved around. This way you can move the aviary outside whenever you have some nice weather. You should try to give your bird as much natural sunlight as possible.
If however you are a more experienced bird owner and you intend on owning several birds, then the type of bird aviary you should be looking to purchase will be much larger. For people looking to purchase such particular birds such as amazons or grey parrots, then it is suggested that you look for a moderate sized aviary. Most people who own these types of birds more often than not aim to train them so that the aviary becomes uncalled-for. But for the first few months while the bird is still young it is advisable to keep it in a medium sized cage, it should be big enough that the bird or birds have enough freedom to move around.

Aviaries can take up a large area so before you go out and buy one you really need to make sure there is adequate space in your back yard! Also instead of buying an aviary, why not to build one? It will save you heaps of money, a good place to start for cheap materials is at the scrap yard.

Whatever type of bird owner you wish to be, there are always a big variety of bird aviaries out there in the market to pick from. Have a look at the local pet shop and take a look at some and remember to take into consideration how many birds and which particular types are you wishing to own.
